Manufacturers invest a lot of resources in assisting their end-users concerning maintenance aspects and the replacement of components. For a client in Latvia, we at the MRstudios have developed a maintenance app which implements virtual reality – and saves valuable time.
The end-user is now able to interactively deal with maintenance and replacement issues. Through an app, all main products of the manufacturer can be chosen. They are then showcased in a virtual reality environment that provides 3D guides on issues such as filter and coil replacement, or cleaning.
For a client in Oslo, we at the MRstudios have visualised a showroom, creating a virtual walkthrough of his product portfolio. In order to do this, we have made use of Virtual Reality.
To ensure a high degree of realism as well as cross-platform compatibility, we make use of state-of-the-art real-time rendering technologies. This empowers us to produce high quality 3D solutions for a broad spectrum of application such as architectural visualisations, industrial planning and e-commerce.
We at the MRstudios have put the electric motor of a German producer into the right light. Through Projection AR, we combined a camera and a projector. The tracking device was used to gather information about the object (e.g. surface, position, rotation), which was then enhanced by virtual content.
This tracking information was interpreted and processed internally. It was then used to transform the virtual content, which was projected. The virtual content now showed the functionality of the electric motor inside a real car.
Shift-screen solutions constitute a very effective means to advance the customers’ experience of innovations. For a German manufacturer, we at the MRstudios have developed a shift screen application that displayed the functioning of a screw compressor by visualising its different components in a working environment.
Shift screens fall under the category of Pseudo AR, as they do usually not make use of tracking information. A screen was positioned in front of a product and connected to a rail on which it was shifted from left to right and vice versa. The only data transmitted was the position of the screen on the rail. This data was used to shift the content shown on the screen.
Slicing bigger products for exhibition purposes can be a costly exercise. We at the MRstudios have helped a leading European manufacturer of food processing equipment to make it a very simple one – providing a virtual solution for slicing or quarter cutting real objects based on CAD model data. The slicing procedure was exclusively done in 3D, which was then perfectly positioned on the real model by using Augmented Reality and 3D tracking.
Depending on the device that was used (e.g. smartphone, tablet or non-mobile devices), the user was able to fully interact with all virtual objects by, for example, clicking on them. Consequently, users can either gather descriptive information (e.g. videos, catalogue data) or interact with single components (e.g. by rotating or zooming in) inside of the real object.
We at the MRstudios have taken the marketing of fans of an Italian manufacturer to the next level by visualising their innovative ventilation solutions in a unique manner. Through implementing state-of-the-art 3D tracking technologies, it was possible to track the real 3D ventilation device – and not only 2D images or 2D bar codes.
This 3D tracking data was then used to position flow data (e.g. particle systems) in and around that object. As the client has provided CAD data of its ventilation device, the 3D model was used to occlude the flow data for a more immersive feeling.
At the Big 5 tradeshow in Dubai, we at the MRstudios have provided a tailor-made iBeacon solution for the stand of a construction product manufacturer. The Beacon technology was first introduced to provide specific information or perform actions on a persons’ mobile device when in close proximity to a Beacon.
This makes Beacons a powerful tool to control and filter information without any action performed by the users themselves. Thus, as the proximity is being processed locally on each device, this technology can also be used to navigate users across an exhibition stand while conducting information for marketing analysis.
We at the AR Bureau have supported a French manufacturer of heat pumps to make its state-of-the-art heat pump systems more tangible. In order to do this, we have developed an application that was completely controllable via Leap Motion, which is a gesture recognition tool mainly focussed on hand detection.
Today, besides a mouse, trackpad or joystick, there are many ways on how to interact with the virtual world. The use of gestures is becoming more and more popular and industries developing such tracking tools are growing continuously. Every single application requests different methods to interact. By providing a large variety of technologies for gesture control such as Kinect or Leap Motion, we are able to find and implement the perfect solution for any application.
